Once upon a time, there was a young girl with a dream. Her name was Jamie. She didn’t dream of being a princess or a rock star. She dreamed of being a dentist and giving kids great smiles! If you think really hard you can guess who I’m talking about – that’s right, Dr. Sahouria! Not too long ago, she was studying hard at college. Then she went to dental school to learn all the right techniques for taking care of teeth. She even put in a few extra years of graduate school to get special education about kids’ teeth, just to make sure she would be the best pediatric dentist she could be!

Not only did her work pay off (she is one awesome dentist, after all I know since my kids see her), but she also teaches future dentists as an Adjunct Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. That’s the same dental school where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, aka D.D.S.

Students at the Arthur A. Dugoni School spend three years working very hard to learn the sciences and health information that every dentist needs to understand. Plus, they get real clinical experience working with patients and managing their care. In July, the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry will open the doors to its new facility in San Francisco, which will include lecture halls, classrooms, clinics, imaging facilities, and more. You can follow the link to see the floor plans of the new school where Dr. Sahouria will be teaching!

If your kids just happen to have a dream of being a dentist, you should ask Dr. Sahouria about what it takes to get there! She’s happy to have patients follow her around for the day and see what it’s like behind the scenes! The dental school also offers a day each year where future students get get hands on experience.
